Designs For Living, Inc. specializes in creating beautiful custom kitchens and baths. Our portfolio also includes fireplace surrounds, attics, libraries and more.

We work directly with owners, and with contractors, architects and designers, and can take your project from initial ideas and schematic designs through final drawings to the permit approvals and selection of finishes.

We can also work as consultants, working on project floor plans or supplying cabinets, for instance.


The Design Process:
1. Initial meetings are usually on site, to get a sense of the space, the client's tastes, and the scope of the project.

2. Then we come to an agreement on the Design Contract. Design fees are based on time that will be invested in a project. Our typical ktichen design fees range from $1500 - $3000.

3. Determining needs and budget comes next. This involves measuring the space, inventorying storage requirements, getting wish lists from the client, discussing function and appliances and how the space will work and what it will look like.

4. The next stage is schematic designs. These are drawn to scale, and show as many good ideas as possible. This is when we brainstorm, fine-tuning wants and needs, prioritizing them and looking at costs and benefits.

5. Final drawings consist of all documents needed for building permits, bidding, and construction, such as floor plans, elevations, electrical plans, etc.

6. We can also manage material selection and ordering, pulling materials together for the project such as cabinets, countertops, tile, flooring, lights, knobs/pulls, faucets, sinks and appliances.
